Project type:
Easy Read
Topic(s):
- Respect and safety
We worked with the Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commission (DFSVC) to create an Easy Read version of their Yearly report October 2025. The yearly report is for the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children 2022–2032.
The Easy Read explains DFSCV’s recommendations for governments to end violence against women and children in 3 main areas:
- urgent changes needed
- important areas to focus on
- research and services.

We worked closely with DFSVC to deliver the Easy Read within a very tight timeframe.
Our editorial team conveyed this sensitive content in a trauma-informed way. They also ensured the tone reflected the urgency of the recommendations, which require swift government action to meet the targets of the national plan.
Our studio team took a trauma-informed approach to the design. For example, they used icons instead of photos to illustrate content that may be confronting for readers. Icons help communicate ideas without triggering trauma responses.
The icons were inclusive of different genders and appearances to reflect the wide range of relationship dynamics covered in the subject matter. The team also ensured the Easy Read aligned with DFSVC’s branding and style.
This resource is an important tool for helping the community understand the pathway to ending violence against women and children, and what governments need to do over the next decade.
The original yearly report has been downloaded 802 times. The Easy Read yearly report has been downloaded 151 times so far.
